BLACK POINT BOAT RAMP NOW OPEN

The new shallower and shorter ramp will take some adjusting to. As we have always said, it will not be as user friendly regarding tides and water depths. The ramp actually extends 25 meters past the toe of the sloping concrete section, but this is currently covered with 15cm to 50cm of sand. It’s ok to reverse out onto this if you need to, knowing that there is a solid base underneath.  We will need to be more focused on the tides when we use the ramp. It is likely that the minimum tide to retrieve a boat may be at least 0.5m higher than the old ramp and vehicles will need to be closer to the water, possibly backing into it in some cases.  Also, be aware of the rock armour and any potential hazards that may show up during these early days. The Council still has further work to finish off after the holidays and we are having ongoing discussions with them regarding the placement and height of the rocks and any issues that may arise as we start to experience the ramp first-hand.

Enjoy your boating
